Activites
Get Involved
Our main activities include:
Action for Health
Sessions on healthy eating and a balanced diet, sporting activities (indoor and outdoor), support for anyone struggling with mental health issues, advice on lifestyle choices and wellness.
Issue Based Work
Sessions on anti-social behaviour, gang activity, gun/knife crime, criminality, grooming and coercion awareness.
Personal Development
Help and support in making career choices, writing a CV and preparing for job interviews.
Education
We offer support and guidance in helping young people choose the educational and career paths that are most suited for them. We run homework clubs, mentoring and host regular talks from university graduates from the Somali community to share their experiences of school and further education.
Consultations
We collaborate with community development organisations, youth service providers and community-based health services. This is so that in the development of projects and provision of our services, we are minimising duplication and channelling our resources in the right way for maximum benefit of young people.
Youth Clubs and Creative Activities
Our youth club opens twice a week providing a range of activities, including games consoles, storytelling, discussion groups, arts & crafts and sports. We also have mentors available for 1-2-1 sessions.
Consequences
Consequences is a programme of workshops and discussions aiming to tackle the problems surrounding violent crime. They involve people who have been on the wrong side of the law and even spent time in prison, helping young people assess decisions. The programme outlines the negative consequences of making certain choices, empowering people to make their own decisions about their direction in life.
Our Days Out
Our Days Out is a programme of supervised outdoor activities, providing new experiences for young people living in a deprived urban environment. All our trips are within two hours travel time from Liverpool and include rural destinations such as North Wales, the Peak District and Delamere Forest, as well as historic towns and cities including Chester.
Thumbs Up!
Thumbs Up! Is a series of mini leagues for console gamers aged 13 to 18. Organised on an individual and multi-player basis, they take place virtually. The aim of Thumbs Up! is to provide a daily distraction to youths at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour during school holiday periods, with games taking place every day.
