About

Kaalmo is a charity set up in 2011 to enable young Somalis in Liverpool to achieve their full potential. Liverpool’s Somali community can trace its origins back to the late 19th Century, but most of its members continue to reside in the Granby/Toxteth area. This is one of the most deprived areas of the United Kingdom and Kaalmo was established with the aim of encouraging young Somalis to ‘thrive not survive.’ We have grown as an organisation and while the Somali community remains our primary focus, all young people in the area aged under 21 are welcome to use our resources.

We believe our projects can embrace who we are, and
can define our future, and can change the world.

Our Mission

Our Mission

To provide advice and a range of activities to people aged under 21, in particular young people from a Somali background. This is so young people can maximise their potential and achieve their life goals.

Our Vision

  1. Helping young people develop their skills and abilities by nurturing their strengths and identifying areas of improvement. In doing this we aim to build their confidence, enabling them to become responsible individuals making a positive contribution to society as a whole.

  2. Encouraging young people to make use of all available educational and training opportunities.

  3. Helping young people into apprenticeships and full-time employment.

  4. Providing recreational activities to help improve young people’s quality of life, especially when it is affected by their health or socio-economic circumstances.
