We train at every week on Saturdays, 9.30 – 11.30.
Kaalmo FC is a new club based in Liverpool 8 representing the footballers of the Somali community. Our under 15s is a new team established summer 2014. Until we have a Sunday League place we do not have a home pitch, but we do have a pool of talented players who are keen to get match practice and meet up with other clubs.
We will establish an under 16s team for 2015/16 so that there is a progression route for the players from the initial under 15 team established 2014/15. In this way players can move up through the age groups.
We will also build links with other clubs to offer as many and opportunities for the young people.
Low levels of fitness and a growing trend towards inactive lifestyle and obesity in the Somali have been reported on at length. In response to this we have worked closely with boys and young men from the community, who are football mad. An outcome of these conversations was to establish Kaalmo FC and register with Liverpool Count FA.
Thanks to the financial support of Grow the Game, Sport Relief and High Sheriff grants, for the last year the growing squad (currently 30 attend Saturday training sessions) have been training regularly and developing their skills in readiness for friendly matches and cup games in the run-up to joining a local league for the 2015/16 season.
